The cutting of my hair

Marked the start of my "natural hair transition"

A transition to become myself

My true self

Relaxing my hair

Stole something from me

A major part of my identity

My hair

Hair

Hair marks beauty

And individuality

It is essential to the identities of black women

A woman like myself

By relaxing my hair

You stole my dignity

My right to be unapologetically me

You stole my beauty

My #blackgirlmagic

Now I've come to reclaim what is
